Subject: The Armenian Music in Diaspora IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering about the Armenian Music and the Armenian Musicians, living in Diaspora... I think that they are loosing their original style because of the strong MUSICAL SHOW BUSINESS MARKETS IN THE WORLD... In fact, I can't find any Armenian Artist who writes with the inspiration of the true Armenian musical style.... All I can find is : some albums, with armenian words outside, but without any Amrenian music inside:(

Message: I agree with you Jac.In my opinion we are inhaling the last breath in diaspora.WE can't continue living here in this way where we are more affected by the other cultures. There's a way only.To encourage armenian singers from armenia alos those who sing the songs of Sayat nova and you feel there's an armenian touch in their words and the music too.We are working hard to make this success but it's too hard.No one can understand the badnewss from their none armenian behave in everything that they are doing.Just they think that everything from Europe is Nice and we have all to follow it .

Message: Dear Carole,
It's true that Sayat Nova, Aram Khatchadourian, Gomidas, Sebentiarian, Keuseyan, Yegmalian are the leaders of our musical culture. In fact, we are proud of their work. But, we can't stand in front of their textes and play them all the time... Therefore, we need MORE musicians from Diaspora who have an ARMENAIN and European or American musical culture that they can mix them up and bring to us some new musical horizons... But, unfortunately, our musicians are working to copy the non Armenian musical style... They don't even think to bring the Armenian colours while they are copying the art...
On the other hand, I don't think that bringing musicians from Armenia could be a way... Because, some of the armenian artists who lives in Armenia are not better than the others... Well, actualy we can see a large amount of (artists) who lives in Armenia don't have any kind of national and Armeno-cultural feelings... I've recently heard some of Amenian artists who sings SAYAT NOVA and Gomidas with a pure American musical touch...
In my opinion, WE NEED A SORT OF ARMENIAN MUSICAL REVOLUTION. We have to make something new by mixing our culture with the European and American styles, without loosing our classical armenian musical touch.

I agree with you.
Ofcourse you understand armenian very well so I'll explain my idea to you clearly.
Yeridasartnern en voronk irens boghbadia pazougnerov g gerden irens hayreniknerou azadoutyoune yev harachkhaghaske.Hedevapar.Yete menk ays or hayrenike tours hayrenik chenk pndrer voch al hay yerajshdoutyoun, anor badgare ayn e vor mez hinin hed shaghgabogh serounte chgrsav hayreniki kaghapare mezi lavabes hramsnel.Mer ashkhadanke anor mech g gayana vor menk tarnank hin yerajshdoutyan, lavabes ganchnank ou ganchsnenk zayn vor nouyn shounchov aveli lav sdeghzakorzenk.
That's the solution in my opinion.

Message: Dear Carole,
I've read your point of view... I have to say that I agree with you, But the problem is that the Armenian music producers are not here to hear this conversation... Or maybe, they're reading this but they have NO COMMENTS...

I hadn't had enough opportunity to play any musical instrument while I was young. In fact I love the gutar as so as the fluite.
I like going to operas and listening to bands too.

Message: Yeah,,
what a painful topic is being talked about..
I feel so bad about it,,, not only in Diaspora , but in Armenia and in Artsakh you can see the same problem over here too.
I have got lots of friends who care only foreign music styles-greek, arabic, turkish and others.
I hate the so-called Rabiz style,, which is non-Armenian..
However, I love and I feel Armenian folk music,, I listen to it every day. There are many young stars who sing folk Armenian songs and feed our youth- Hamlet Guevorkian, Arman HOvhannisyan, Andre... why not? I love them all..
